Materials and Care
A practical guide to caring for bracelets, jewelry, and small lifestyle pieces made with natural materials and metal details.

Many Stillwood Atelier pieces may include natural stones, wood, metal details, cords, beads, or handmade components. These materials are chosen not to create an exaggerated decorative effect, but to give each piece a natural, quiet, and wearable texture in daily life.
Natural materials are different from industrial materials. Each stone, each wood grain, and each surface detail may carry small variations. Differences in color depth, grain direction, surface texture, bead shape, or metal finish may appear because of material batches, lighting, and hand-finishing. These differences are usually part of the character of the material and are not considered flaws.
Why care matters
A piece is not a static object kept in a cabinet. It moves with the body, clothing, air, humidity, sweat, and daily gestures. Even stable materials may slowly change depending on how and where they are worn.
For example, metal details may show slight oxidation over time. Wood or natural stones may change on the surface after contact with water, oil, perfume, or chemical substances. Cords and beaded structures may also be affected by pulling, friction, or long-term pressure.
Care is not a complicated ritual. It is a simple daily habit that helps a piece remain wearable for longer.
Daily wearing suggestions
When wearing your piece, avoid long exposure to water, perfume, sweat, skincare products, cosmetics, detergents, and strong chemicals. Remove jewelry before bathing, swimming, soaking in hot springs, sleeping, or doing intense exercise.
If you wear the same piece every day, gently wipe it with a soft dry cloth at the end of the day, especially around the areas that touch the skin. This helps reduce the buildup of sweat, dust, and oil on the surface.
For bracelets, corded pieces, or beaded designs, avoid pulling hard, twisting repeatedly, or placing heavy pressure on them for long periods. Put them on and take them off gently so that elastic cords, threads, knots, and connection points do not receive sudden force.
Storage
When not in use, store each piece separately in a pouch, jewelry box, or dry storage space. Avoid mixing several pieces together, as metal parts, beads, and natural stones may scratch each other.
If a piece becomes wet, gently absorb the surface moisture with a clean soft cloth, then let it air-dry in a ventilated place. Do not use high heat from a hair dryer, and do not leave the piece under direct sunlight for a long time.
For metal details that may oxidize, avoid storing them in a very humid environment. If your area is humid, you may place a drying packet near the storage area, but do not let it directly touch the surface of the piece.
Natural changes over time
Natural materials may slowly change with time, wearing frequency, and environment. Color may become slightly deeper or lighter, metal may show fine traces, and wood or corded parts may develop signs of use. These changes are not always damage. Sometimes they are simply the natural marks of a piece entering daily life.
Stillwood Atelier values pieces that can be worn quietly and naturally over time, rather than objects that must remain exactly the same as the day they arrived. Reasonable care can extend the life of a piece and help it keep a better texture in daily wear.
If something goes wrong
If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, incomplete, or if an unusual issue appears shortly after receiving it, please contact us through the contact page as soon as possible. Include your order number, order email, a description of the issue, and clear photos so that we can review the situation more quickly.
Natural wear, slight oxidation, small color changes, or traces from long-term use are usually considered part of normal daily wear. You can still contact us if you are unsure, and we will try to provide a suitable suggestion.
Summary
Good care does not need to be complicated. Avoid water and chemicals, wear gently, store separately, and wipe regularly. Let the piece enter daily life quietly, while allowing it to carry the natural traces of your use over time.
