Size Guide
A practical guide to choosing bracelet and jewelry sizes, understanding fit, and measuring before placing an order.

Size is not simply about choosing something larger or tighter. A suitable size should feel comfortable and stable in daily wear, without limiting wrist movement or putting unnecessary pressure on the piece.
Stillwood Atelier pieces may include bracelets, necklaces, hanging objects, accessories, or small lifestyle pieces. Different objects have different sizing logic, but the basic principle is the same: understand your actual wearing needs first, then choose a size that suits daily use.
Why size matters
Size plays an important role in whether a piece can be worn comfortably over time. If a bracelet is too tight, it may create pressure on the wrist and place long-term tension on elastic cords, knots, or connection points. If it is too loose, it may move around too much, feel unstable, or rub against desks, clothing, or other objects.
For bracelets, a suitable fit should sit naturally around the wrist without pressing into the skin. It may move slightly, but it should not slide heavily toward the palm. For necklaces, hanging pieces, or other accessories, you may also need to consider wearing position, clothing thickness, and daily usage.
How to measure your wrist
To measure your wrist, use a soft measuring tape. If you do not have one, you can wrap a piece of string or paper around your wrist, mark the length, and measure it with a ruler.
Measure around the area where you usually wear a bracelet, often near the wrist bone. Do not pull too tightly, and do not leave the tape too loose. Let it sit gently against the skin.
After measuring your wrist circumference, add a small allowance depending on the fit you prefer. If you like a closer fit, add less. If you prefer more room, add a little more.
Choosing the right fit
For a close fit, you may add around 0.5 cm to your actual wrist measurement. This can feel more stable, but it may not be suitable if you dislike pressure.
For a comfortable everyday fit, adding around 1 cm is often a practical choice. It usually gives enough movement without feeling too loose.
For a looser fit, or for pieces with larger beads or a stiffer structure, you may add around 1.5 cm. However, a piece that is too loose may feel less stable and may be more likely to bump or rub against other surfaces.
These are only general references. The final choice should also consider your wearing habits, wrist shape, material, and bead size.
How materials affect sizing
Material can change how a size feels. A bracelet with larger beads may feel tighter than a bracelet with smaller beads, even if the inner circumference is the same. Larger beads take up more inner space around the wrist.
Elastic pieces are often easier to put on and take off, but they should still not be chosen too tightly. Long-term stretching may reduce the life of the elastic cord. Knotted or fixed-structure pieces have less room for adjustment, so measuring carefully before ordering is more important.
If a piece includes metal details, charms, or heavier materials, consider how the weight sits on the wrist. If the piece is too loose, the weight may cause it to slide or rotate more easily.
Choosing a size for gifting
When choosing a piece as a gift, the best option is to know the recipient’s usual jewelry size. If you cannot confirm it, choose a design with better flexibility, such as an adjustable chain, adjustable cord, or a style with more forgiving sizing.
If you must choose a fixed size, it is usually safer not to choose too small. A slightly relaxed fit is often easier to accept than a tight one. However, if the recipient has a very small wrist, avoid choosing something too large, as it may feel unstable.
If you are unsure, you can contact us before ordering. Tell us the recipient’s approximate build, usual wearing style, and the piece you are considering. We will try to provide a practical suggestion.
What to check before ordering
Before placing an order, check whether the product page includes size, inner circumference, chain length, bead size, or adjustable range. Different products may present size information differently, so the product page should always be the main reference.
If you are unsure about the size of a specific piece, contact us before ordering instead of guessing. When contacting us, provide your wrist measurement, preferred fit, and the link or name of the piece you are considering.
This helps us give a more useful suggestion and reduces the chance of receiving a piece that does not fit as expected.
Summary
A suitable size is the foundation of daily wear. Measure your wrist clearly, understand the fit you prefer, and consider the material and structure of the piece before choosing.
Stillwood Atelier hopes each piece not only looks right, but also feels comfortable enough to become part of long-term daily use.
